

Instrument Rating (IR) rating is often quoted as the most challenging and rewarding experience in a pilot’s career. This rating qualifies pilots to fly outside of VFR restriction, utilizing cockpit instruments during low visibility or bad weather. This is a learned skill that will build confidence and enhance safety. Southern Skies Aviation Ltd. offers the following IFR Ratings:
Group I - All planes with flight test carried out in a multi-engine aircraft.
Group III - Single engine aircraft with flight test is done in a single engine aircraft. (Icon link to IFR Info Sheet)
Applicant must satisfy all training criteria as outlined in the Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs).
The following cost breakdown is based on Transport Canada minimum requirements and includes applicable taxes. Student proficiency will vary. Hours in excess of those listed here must be paid for by the student at the rates listed.
| 20 hours dual training on flight sim @ $65.00 per hour. | $1300 |

Additional Expenses:
Prospective Commercial Pilot applicants should consider the Southern Skies Aviation Ltd. 10 month Integrated Commercial Pilot Course to achieve their aviation goals. This 10 month intensive course includes the Private Pilot License, Night Rating, VFR-OTT, Basic Aerobatics, Emergency Maneuver Training, Mountain Performance Courses, Instrument Training, Multi-Engine Rating and an intensive ground school. No prior aviation experience required - credit may be offered for Private Pilot License. Be an employable commercial pilot in 10 months!
