Applicant must satisfy all training criteria as outlined in the Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs).

1. Flight Training: The following upper air revieew MUST be completed prior to receiving the Tail Dragger checkout, regardless of the student's prior flight hours. These upper air review exercises are basic elements of the Southern Skies Aviation Ltd. standard check ride:

Forced Approach - Slow Flight
Go-Around - Steep Turn
Stalls

The Tail-Dragger checkout course is based on a progressive series of seven lesson plans. There are no minimum or maximum hours allotted, nor are there any minimum cross-country or ground school requirements.

Navigation exercises and lessons will not be formally included in the Tail-Dragger checkout. The Instructor Pilot will use his/her discretion in determining whether the candidate has demonstrated a satisfactory level of proficiency regarding the following:

Local Area, Airspace and Radio Frequencies
Isolated Topographical and/or Meteorological Considertion eg. Box Canyon

Students who do not display proficient knowledge of these items may not be permitted to rent aircraft from Southern Skies Aviation Ltd. This will be at the discretion of the Operations Manager, under advisement from the Instructor Pilot and the Chief flight Instructor.

Dual flight in our Citabria will be billed @ $175/hour
Solo flight in our Citabria will be billed @ $130/hour
Ground Brief/Instruction will be billed @ $50/hour

Additional Expenses:

1. Hourly Fuel Surcharge (Set Monthly – Please call for current pricing)
2. Applicable taxes will be added.
